Recommendations for 2017 summer Canberra visual arts
Here’s my slightly UPDATED list of exhibitions – recommendations for anyone thinking of visiting Canberra during December 2017 – January 2018.
Here’s my list (so far) – (updated below on 20 December) – there are more shows to see
While attention usually focuses on the ‘special’ and the ‘blockbuster’ exhibition, there are always a host of works to be enjoyed within the exhibitions staged from the institution’s own fabulous collections.
It is worth the travel just to take these in. You will enjoy them I can assure you.

NGA Photography
The NGA does not have a dedicated photography gallery. But there are many works scattered throughout the Australian and International collections exhibitions.
As I keep saying – this makes it almost like a “where’s Wally’ exercise as lovers of the medium wander about the whole gallery trying to spot them. But what is on exhibition does actually make it worth it – if you have the time and energy.
Here’s a wonderful NGA photography exhibition –
Otto Dix and August Sander – War, people, landscape (free entry)
