Any time you are wandering through Canberra galleries, make sure you allow time to meander through the permanent collection galleries.
The National Portrait Gallery in Canberra has been collecting some wonderful artworks over the years.
While there are many of the standard historic paintings of people – mainly dignitaries of their time, there are is a growing collection of some wonderful works by some talented artists – that also happen to be portraits. For instance the gallery has a couple of wonderful paintings by John Brack.
The collection has some real gems – congrats to all the curators involved with these purchases over recent decades.
It is definitely worth the time to visit the permanent collection exhibition of the National Portrait Gallery – not just to see faces you recognise – but to take in some great artwork, including photography.
