Here’s a review in The Guardian that speaks heaps of the problems of the moment in visual arts.

Many of the ‘traditional’ art forms are being excluded from contemporary art exhibitions. At present we have a barrage of installations, videos and other stuff of mostly mediocre quality being exhibited as contemporary art.
